The best book in the world, bar none.
Being someone who has taken to purchasing books from authors I don't know, just to broaden my reading, I found this little exert from penny-arcade about how Gabe selects books to read amusing:
The first rule is to only read Star Wars books. Now if that’s not possible because a new one is not available I have a second set of rules that kicks in. The book must have a picture of an alien planet, a space station or a space ship on the cover. This means that I end up reading a lot of Alastair Reynolds. Sometimes that son of a bitch will have a cover with a space station orbiting an alien planet while launching a space ship! The holy trinity!
His holy trinity is akin to something out of monty python.
"It's the best book ever written, for all time, anywhere, even in the outer reaches of the Gabulon Nebular which is known for it's publication of the Adventures of Grimbelback and Nork which has been transalted into 5398 different langauages throughout the known universe, and 21 in the unknown universe"
"But what makes it such a good book?"
